Category Archives: Credit Card Transaction Questions
We get a lot of great questions here at the PaymentMax office. So good, that I like to post them for other merchants out there who are thinking the exact same thought…Today’s top question has been about re-emailing receipts to customers, and how long the user has access to previous transactions.
The answer is 30 days. You can easily resend any receipt (via email) to your customers from the past 30 days transactions. If you are using ROAMpay mobile you would select Inquiry, Last 30 days, and locate the transaction in question. Click on the receipt to resend, and enter the email address. Done! Easy!
If you have not received an email from your recent transactions, log in and find ROAMplayer web edition, click it, log in, and select transactions from the menu list. Find the transaction in question and resend it to yourself or your customer.
One of the first questions our clients ask when they are being set-up with a mobile merchant account from PaymentMax is, “what happens if someone steals my phone, or one of my employee’s phones.” “Will the thief be able to access my customers sensitive credit card information?”
The answer is no! PaymentMax offers ROAMpay Mobile, PAYware mobile, and AprivaPay. All three of these mobile phone and tablet credit card processing apps have the highest level of security. There is absolutely no storage of sensitive credit card data on the mobile devices. Also, credit card information is always encrypted during transmission.
If your phone/tablet/ipad is lost or stolen simply give PaymentMax a call and we can transfer your account to your new phone or tab.
Processing credit cards using ROAMpay and your mobile phone (over 100 models are compatible, see my compatibility list) is simple and straight forward.
Once the card has been swiped, and all information entered you will see either Payment Approved! or Payment Declined! In rare cases, you may see an error message. This could mean that the transaction timed out.
To confirm whether a transaction has successfully been completed, check your current batch. Access your current batch under the Inquiry Menu. The last transaction processed will show at the top of the current batch list. If the last transaction listed is the transaction you are inquiring about, then it was processed correctly.
If the latest transaction is not listed under current batch, then the transaction needs to be re-entered and submitted.
PaymentMax is a proud ROAMdata partner and supplier of all ROAMdata products, including ROAMpay Mobile and ROAMpay Mobile Credit Card Reader.
ROAMpay Questions What Happens if Cellphone Service is not Available? Can I Still Accept Credit Cards
A common question I receive is “what happens to my credit card transactions if I have no cell phone service?”
If you find yourself in a no cellphone zone you can still accept your customers credit cards. The transactions will be performed offline. All transactions taken offline will be stored safely and uploaded at a later time when the network is available.
When network service is not available , the login times out. The application stores the username and password and allows the user to conduct offline transactions. The screen text below is displayed alerting the user to the situation.
Login timed out
You may have little
or no connectivity
only offline trxs
will be allowed

If you find yourself offline, go ahead and enter the transaction information. Once there is an available network, all the offline sales will be submitted.
A common question received here in the office is what happens if I (or one of my team members) lose a ROAMpay swiper device?
Merchants can disable any of their lost or stolen ROAMpay swiper devices quickly, and remotely. Preventing those unaccounted devices from accessing any ROAMdata applications.
Good news for all of the mobile merchants out there who have recently updated their iPhone with Apple’s newest operating system iOS 4 – Payware Mobile is compatible with an update! Here is how to update your iPhone with the PAYware mobile update.
PAYware Mobile v1.004 can be installed by entering the App store from your iPhone. Notification of the update should appear in the lower right area of your screen.
Touch update, and then touch install from the PAYware Mobile app store listing. Once the update has been installed, you can begin to process your customers credit and debit cards.
New debit card legislation will have the federal government policing the interchange rates charged to merchants for their customers debit card transactions. While the specifics of the new law are being worked out, here is what merchants can expect.
1. Merchants could set a $10 debit card transaction minimum.
2. Merchants would be allowed to offer cash discounts for use of cash over a debit card.
3. Government debit cards and reloadable pre-paid cards would be exempt.
4. Banks with over $10 billion would be subject to the fee oversight.
5. Fees would have to be reasonable and proportional to processing costs. The Feds have 9 months (after the bill was signed into law) to figure this out.
With over 1.6 trillion dollars in total debit card purchases in 2009, this new legislation is sure to have an impact on all parties involved, large and small. Whether the impact will benefit the consumer is yet to be seen. Some are speculating that the cap on “swipe” fees will only benefit the big retailers like Wal-Mart and Target, while consumers end up fitting the bill with less bank services, and minimum transaction amounts.
Monday Apple announced that beginning on July 30th, 17 more countries will be able to purchase the iPhone 4. Great news for mobile merchants in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. They can now turn their iPhones into Sell Phones!
iPhone credit card processing has opened the doors wide open for U.S. mobile merchants, once restricted by cash only payments. They no longer have to turn customers away, or accept risky personal checks. U.S. iPhone processing merchants have seen sales steadily increase with positive feedback from customers. Customers love the technology, convenience, and emailed receipts.
While PaymentMax only offers credit card processing in the United States, 17 other countries will now be able to use their iPhone 4 to securely accept credit and debit cards anywhere using their local merchant account providers.
