Accept Credit Cards with iPhone 5

According to The Independent, Apple will be releasing the iPhone 5 without the highly anticipated NFC (near field communication) hardware built in. NFC would allow mobile payments to be made by waving a compatible device in front of an NFC embedded phone or tablet which would scan and process payments.

After the iPad 2 was released March 11th without NFC technology, many mobile payment advocates had high hopes that Apple was saving this feature for it’s iPhone 5. The UK source states that the NFC technology lacks universal standards that could potentially hinder the successful launch of the Apple product.
